Eagle Engagement Certificates

Posted Date: 3/24/25 (8:00 PM)

Good Afternoon -
Now that we have completed conferences and set goals for all kids over the last three months of school, we wanted to begin to celebrate the hard work of our kids and staff.  At South Side, we know that learning is required and when we put in 100% all students will make remarkable gains!  We also know when our kids are focused on their learning task, putting forward their best efforts, and responding to feedback given to them - they can and will learn AMAZING THINGS!  Anytime a class is caught with 100% of their kids fully engaged in their learning, that class will be recognized with an Eagle Engagement Certificate.

What are some ways that we can see engagement in our learners?

  • Kids actively working and communicating with their peers
  • Kids sharing their thinking on mini whiteboards
  • Kids listening to peers during turn-and-talks and revising their thinking if necessar
  • Kids giving each other feedback about their learning
  • Staff using a 5 minute reminder during independent learning time to refocus all students and ensure all students are on taks and understanding the content they are learning
  • All students tracking the speaker
  • Kids asking and answering questions as they are learning
  • Kids using hand signals to show their level of agreement or disagreement
  • Kids self-assessing their work against the success criteria
  • Kids setting and self-assessing their goals

We are having a school challenge to see who can earn the most Eagle Engagement Certificates between now and April break.  Congratulations to Miss Kelly's class, Mr. Wolf's class and Mrs. Kecskes' class for being the first three classes recognized for having 100% engagement during their lessons today!  Keep up the great work kids and staff!
