Good Morning South Side -

I wanted to send a special thank you to all staff, students and families for making this last week before our break a success.  This was an incredibly busy week offering many opportunities for our staff and families to connect, partner and support our kids in fun and innovative ways!

Thanks to Mrs. Zimmermann for providing coffee on Tuesday morning for our 'Coffee Chit Chat.'  This is an informal way for our staff to check in with our families during morning drop off.  On Thursday, our AMAZING PTA hosted a free and fun egg hunt in the back field.  We are incredibly grateful for the time and dedication of our PTA officers and volunteers for planning and coordinating so many events for our kids and families to enjoy.  Yesterday we collected over $200 to donate to support families undergoing cancer treatment.  If you would still like to contribute to this amazing cause you are welcome to donate to Team South Side by clicking here.  In addition to all of this, we also welcomed over 200 guests to spend time with us during our lunch and recess!   It was fun to see parents, grandparents, and many other trusted adults eating and having fun together during recess.  All the while, our teachers and school staff were planning enriching and engaging learning each day to further our learning.  Thanks everyone -- your efforts make this a fantastic and fun week for all!

Lastly -- we have seen an uptick in acts of kindness!  We have been challenging our kids to think beyond themselves -- and consider what they can do to make someone's day better ... by doing things in service to others and their community. The number of kids asking staff and each other, "How are you?" or "How is your day going?" or just lending a helping hand to a peer continues to increase. We are incredibly proud of our school's efforts to be kind, caring and courageous.
On behalf of our entire SSS staff -- we hope you have a great week off, we are going to miss our kids and we can't wait to see everyone back on Monday, April 21st for our first day after April break!
